The most prevalent form of CFAP298 mRNA consists of 1427 base pairs distributed across seven exons. This gene is of interest due to its association with various diseases. Elevated levels of CFAP298 have been observed in the bone marrow of acute myeloid leukemia patients with a poor prognosis and abnormal karyotype. Male Alzheimer's patients exhibit reduced CFAP298 expression in their blood cells. Furthermore, CFAP298 resides within the critical region of Down Syndrome. Although clear paralogs are absent in humans, homologues are widely conserved across animals, fungi, and algae. Its closest neighbors on the chromosome are TCP10L, EVA1C, LOC100506185, OR7E23P, and SYNJ1.
