CEP55

Description

The CEP55 (centrosomal protein 55) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

CEP55 is a protein encoded by the CEP55 gene in humans. It plays a vital role in cell division, particularly in cytokinesis, the final stage. CEP55 is also involved in the formation of cilia in neural stem cells.

CEP55 plays a crucial role in the final stage of cell division (cytokinesis), ensuring successful completion of the process. It is involved in mitotic exit and recruits PDCD6IP and TSG101 to the midbody during cytokinesis. While not required for microtubule nucleation, CEP55 is essential for the development of the brain and kidney.

CEP55 is also known as C10orf3, CT111, MARCH, URCC6.
