CEP41

Description

The CEP41 (centrosomal protein 41) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

CEP41 is essential for the process of cilium formation (ciliogenesis). It plays a crucial role in the modification of tubulin proteins within the cilium, a process called tubulin glutamylation. CEP41 likely facilitates this by transporting TTLL6, an enzyme responsible for adding glutamate chains to tubulin, between the basal body (the anchoring point of the cilium) and the cilium itself.

CEP41 is also known as JBTS15, TSGA14.
